Q: Are Indians still conservative in adapting to fashion, as compared to their Western counterparts?A: We have come a long way in India. The Indian customer is now more willing to indulge in the latest trends and global inspirations. That being said, we still have our unique fashion tastes that sets us apart from our international counterparts.Q: Also, how brand conscious are we?A: The Indian consumer is very brand conscious, more so with the ever-increasing influx of international brands. There is a growing healthy regard for a premium, high quality products with a defined design aesthetic.Q: Esprit is an international brand. Have you felt the need to adapt to the Indian sensibilities and fashion while designing clothes for the market here?A: Esprit ensures that the same product is offered across its stores worldwide with close attention to design, fit and quality. However, in India we do customise the product mix keeping in mind our Indian customer’s love of colour, occasion wear and weather-based requirements.Q: With regard to Autumn Winter ’11, what should we go shopping for this season?A: Go for luxurious fabrics like cashmere and silk. They stand on their own and immediately luxe up even the most minimal look. Stock up on cosy cardigans, scarves and chunky knits for layering.Q: International fashion houses are already showcasing Spring-summer 2012. What are the trends one should watch out for?A: With the international fashion weeks having just concluded, it’s safe to say we’ll be wearing ’20s inspired silhouettes, graphic tribal prints, sporty luxe, updated florals and colour blocked geometric shapes, next season.Q: What is that one fashion product one should blindly invest in?A: Invest in a classic, high quality trench coat. It will stand the test of time and will become your go-to for the season ahead.
