As India gears up for General Elections, writers, actors and directors too get creative to explore the theme in their work. Makrand Deshpande is known for his sarcasm and wit, and this tine around he is palnning a jibe on our mindset over polls.

"My next play speaks about human emotions and behaviours on the backdrop of polictics," he says. Dude Bhagwan Zinda Hai is a pre-election hilarious take on the political cruelty in the name of god. "Three city professionals are employed to begin a nationwide campaign called 'Dude Bhagwan Zinda Hai'. Wearing the garb of duty and professionalism in due course of the mission our characters are forced to succumb to their circumstances and unleash the animal within," Deshpande informs.

Politics and politicians have become dirty words nowadays. Everybody wants the system to change but nobody wants to take the initiative. Political parties spend billions on election campaign, and Deshpande is digging into this aspect of the polls scenario. "I want to show the psychological disintegration of the human mind via Dude... It is more about a disillusioned mind on the overall system of politics and parties," he says.

The three professionals – cameraman, sound recordist and executive producer – who are making a film for a political party for its election campaign see their own demons while working on their project. "We are ruled with so much violence, our government is ruthless government. Our country should be ruled with love and not with fear," he says. Will our next government able to fulfil this hope, only time will tell.
