Fashion is hard to keep track of. As are fashion weeks. There are just so many! But what’s interesting is that it throws up new designers and faces on the ramp ­— who ultimately find their way into Bollywood. Manish Mishra, resident fashion expert says, “Funnily enough, over the years fashion weeks have become like birthday parties in India. Any couture junkie with money to hire a PR agency is calling herself a couturier hence we see so many ‘it girl designers’ floating around, who blatantly copy Guccis and Marchesas of the world. With so many weeks clouding the fashion calendar, we are experiencing a fashion fatigue of sorts or is that an understatement? It’s imperative to promote the genuine talent in this sea of rip offs and not the unnecessary tackiness in the name of fashion.

2014 is clearly the year of art and myriad art collaborations — the two examples which instantly come to mind are of designer Raf Simons tying up with artist Sterling Ruby, and Prada collaborating with mural artists. Who would have thought that an haute couture gown would be paired with embellished gym trainers (like we saw at Chanel and Dior couture shows) a few seasons ago?
