Actress and style diva Mrinalini Sharma shares her rules of style to help you understand your fashion quotient
1. To begin with, know your style. It is very important to understand where your taste and comfort lies and once you get the hang of your own style, then whatever you wear, will automatically become your style statement.
2. One thing you need to be clear about is that what’s hot on the ramp might not necessarily work for you. So make sure you try out things according to your body type and personality before settling on something in particular.
3. The fit of a particular outfit is very important, your garment should have the right cut and a good fit to fall nicely and flatter your body instead of shamming it.
4. If you are wearing something short, make sure to watch where your dress is going. You need to be extremely careful about what you wear and the way you move around in it.
5. Under garments are just that, they are not meant to be shown! Make sure that there are no ugly lines visible when you dress up and head out, it’s not lady-like.
6. Dressing up, style and make-up are something which add an enhancement to who you are. You should feel good from inside and radiate it outside, whether emotionally, physically or mentally.
7. Caked up make-up looks horrible, avoid too much of it and instead play with the eye make-up if you need to. Keep the sheer and shine on.
8. Though high heels lend elegance to a woman, a lot of them are not comfortable in them. I personally love heels and have really high stilettos in my wardrobe. However, one should wear heels only if comfortable, or else it may end up looking tacky.
9. Since we are into summer I would advice people to have lots of water and fresh fruit to keep the skin glowing and save oneself from dehydration.
10. Make sure you have a lot of happy and bright colours in your wardrobe. Pastels are in, keep it light, dress easy and keep it comfortable!
