Remixes and remakes have always been the flavour of the season. The trend of Disk Jockeys playing around with popular Hindi tracks does not just apply to typical classics and pop numbers of Bollywood anymore.
This Republic Day, many DJs are looking at remixing of some of their favourite patriotic tracks.
DJ Suketu, who will be playing in the city especially for a Republic Day performance, has already remixed the song Saare jahaan se achcha during his jam session at a colleges in Hyderabad. “But it’s not up for commercial release yet. I like to listen to it since it infuses me with patriotism,” says Suketu. “Also I’d love to remix Maa tujhe salaam. I might just do it this year itself,” he adds.
However, these DJs feel that remixing patriotic numbers is a sensitive issue and might invite harsh comments at times. “I guess I am a bit intimidated to consider remixing a patriotic song for commercial release,” says Suketu.
DJ Akhil Talreja on the other hand wants to remix his all time favourite — Raghupati raghav. “I feel an instrumental remix or maybe house mix would sound just fantastic,” says Akhil.
DJ Nasha, alias Breed, reveals that he wants to create a dance version of Mile sur mera tumhara. “I just love that track and I feel that with a little more orchestration, I could make a superb fusion track out of it. I can just spin a completely different edge to it,” says DJ Nasha.
