For Muslims, the month of Ramzan is special, it’s when they must fast from the start of dawn until the sun has set, abstaining from eating and drinking and wrong doing. It is also a time for prayer, spiritual reflection, humility, self-evaluation and generosity.
Director Mudassar Aziz has been awaiting this month eagerly. “Right from childhood, it’s been my favourite month of the year. I love all the philosophies that go around Ramzan. I fast for all the days and for me, it’s a month of abstinence. I make sure I stay away from anything that is negative. I also think it’s a good time to connect with myself.”
TV actor Nigaar Z Khan reveals how Ramzan has her feeling anew. “Islam is based on science and while fasting does cleanse your body, it also cleanses your soul. It purifies you as all the wrong thoughts go out of your mind. I am steadfast in my prayers and offer the tarawih namaz, which is special to Ramzan. I also love to eat kebabs my mum makes at iftaar (time for breaking the fast),” she smiles.
Designer Arshiya Faikh is excited as this is her 10-month-old daughter Noa’s first Ramzan. “I’m already looking forward to celebrating Eid with her too. One is surrounded by peace during this time and I think fasting brings about a stability and fulfillment in life,” she adds.
