After writing his own success story at Mumbai’s Fashion Week this year, designer Riyaz Gangji is back into his area of expertise — Indian wedding wear. This time he’s collaborating with music composers Sajid-Wajid to present a one-of-a-kind fashion extravaganza today. The show has been conceptualised as a Bollywood musical with special tracks created by this musical duo to add to the drama, style and glamour of Riyaz’s creations.

So how did he come about this particular show? Riyaz says, “The inspiration came during the music launch of a film which I was in charge of styling and for which  Sajid -Wajid had composed the music. I was completely mesmerised by their musical style.”
On Sajid-Wajid he says, “I personally believe that they are the best Indian music composers after AR Rahman. They are true rockstars as far as music is concerned and totally understand the context of a situation and the music required for it.”

When asked about the USP of this show, he quickly responds, “It focuses only on what grooms wear and garments designed exclusively for them. We have also included the  concept of portraying three main aspects of a modern Indian wedding — the bachelor’s party, the sangeet and the  wedding. This show is unique because the music is original and especially composed for it.”

Music composers Sajid-Wajid on their part say, “We have tweaked a couple of our Bollywood hits according to Riyaz’s designs, to impart a fashion twist and edge. It has been an enjoyable process composing the music for Riyaz’s show because it has been a creative and innovative effort for us. We hope this sets a trend for many more such fashion musicals from the industry!”
