Indian jewellary designer Poonam Soni has been chosen along with 36 designers from across the world to participate in a one-of-its-kind auction organised by Eco Art.
Eco Art, a charitable institution for ecological welfare, is supported by Prince Albert II of Monacco. The organisation holds annual auctions, choosing artists, painters, and sculptors to depict a theme, based on endangered species of animals or birds.
While a quarter of the hammer price is given to the artiste, 75% of the auction proceeds are made use of for purely ecological causes.
The theme for this year’s auction is “extinct birds” — the Hornbill and the Saker Falcon. Soni chose falcon as her theme. She titled her creation as Itai Doshin — borrowing the idea from Buddhist philosophy.
Soni says, “It has been an honour for me to be counted among the best 36 designers across the world. I am looking forward to the upcoming auction.”
The piece can be used as a brooch or a lariat. It is adorned with diamonds of the highest quality, champagne coloured ovals in rounds and bagets.
Soni’s exclusive jewellary piece is slated to travel through a host of international destinations starting at Monte Carlo on July 29, and ending with a grand auction in Abu Dhabi on November 13.
