Serving strawberries

Surprise your guests with some quick and flavourful treats.

So, the first of the season’s strawberries have arrived. And no matter how much we wait for our first box, let’s face it, most of us can’t get ourselves to eat just as much as we’d like because of it’s sweet and sour taste. But maybe, some delicious looking pairings can help.

Cream treats
If you’ve eaten strawberries with cream at Panchgani or Mahabaleshwar, you’d know what a potent combination whipped cream and strawberries make. Try some yourself.

Strawberry bouquet
Make two cuts (not to deep) at the bottom of the strawberries. Put them on sticks, and gently pipe in the opening some cold whipped cream. And you have a delectable strawberry bouquet!

Strawberry dwarfs
Chop off the green heads, and a little of the bottom of each strawberry. Invert the stumps on a plate, pipe some whipped cream on each and place the bottom on top like a cap. Pipe some whipped cream for eyes, and use black sesame to complete the eyes.

Dark Fantasies
Descriptions of warm, dripping chocolate, enveloping the sweet and sour strawberries can almost get poetic. And the pairing tastes as such as the words can promise it to be.

Chocolate bites
Fur coat berries
Melt any chocolate you like to dip your strawberries and roll them into almond slivers or shredded coconut for the fur coat effect.

Strawberry bar
Drop in sliced strawberries in an ice tray, and pour in melted chocolate of your choice. Don’t worry about being neat. Refrigerate the tray (don’t freeze) overnight. The next day remove the bar from the mould. You could wrap it in clingwrap and break a piece each time you want
to have a bite!
