She’s lost oodles of weight and is looking her best. At the recently-held GQ Awards, Sonakshi Sinha out-frocked Deepika Padukone in a glam gothic Yanina body-con dress teamed with Givenchy shoes, a sleek top knot and smokey eyes. A few days later, she cleaned up well yet again in a metallic-meets-mesh creation at the Elle Beauty Awards. Her airport appearances have also been on point and reflect her ability to play dress up with varied silhouettes.

She recently walked the runway for designers Rohit Gandhi+Rahul Khanna in a sheer and shine-on dress with comforting ease, a studied poise and oodles of chutzpah. Be it her printed athleisure twin-sets from Falguni & Shane Peacock or her trusty Adidas Originals — she’s clearly having fun with fashion. These looks are a far cry from her earlier appearances where she seemed as if she was itching to find a veritable style voice. Today, thanks to the transformation of her body, she seems more comfortable on the red carpet and photographs beautifully — which makes her one of the coolest dressers in B-Town. Stylist Isha Bhansali hails her as Bollywood’s cool girl, who does glam very well.

“I would love to see Sonakshi’s grunge and casual side more since she’s already proved that she’s a pro at glam. I’ve shot covers with her and she’s very sweet to work with and has a photogenic face. Personally, I love her in tailored pantsuits. All in all, her personal style is more hippie and free-spirited,” says Isha.

Fitness lets you Shine

Sonakshi’s body metamorphosis has a lot to do with her new stylistically alluring avatar. Stylist Divyak D’Souza observes that the minute you are at your fittest best, you channel that and your personality shines through. “The poise and the carriage changes everything which is reflecting in Sonakshi’s appearances. The fact that she’s happy in her mind and comfortable with her body, she’s totally owning her personality. Whether she’s out at the airport or walking the runway — her confidence shines through. She’s not a skinny girl, but a fuller-shape heroine. She’s a sexy athletic girl and a role model for young girls,” says Divyak.

D’Souza, who has often worked with Miss Sinha recalls his styling stint. “She’s open-minded, respectful and knows her job as an artiste and hence the collaborating process is amazing with her. For a shoot, I had given her cornrows-inspired hair to go with a bridal outfit and a floral headgear for another look, and she was open to ideas and suggestions, and let me do my thing making it a seamless process,” recalls Divyak.

A clever play of hues and shapes

Using clothing to highlight her curves has been Sonakshi’s forte and of late, the actress has also flirted with sci-fi inspired make-up and sleek up-dos.

Stylist Eshaa Amiin observes that Sonakshi has always been a big built girl but of late she’s using it to her advantage. “She’s obviously had her set of challenges as to what works for her body type and what doesn’t. I like her body-con looks which cover her arms, accentuate her curves and make her look slick and sharp. Also, her choice of the colour palette in pieces has been on the darker side, which further help her look leaner.”
