Priyanka Chopra was recently hosted by international fashion industry legend Salvatore Ferragamo’s son Leonardo in Italy.

Leonardo even threw a lavish lunch and dinner in her honour. Priyanka thus became the first Indian actor to have been invited into the Salvatore household. However, the first Indian to be honoured by Salvatore was the Maharani of Cooch Behar, Indira Devi.

When asked if she has looked at the memento the Rani had left behind to adorn the Italian fashion museum, Priyanka says, “Yes, I did! The maharani had exquisite taste and I did get to see a beautiful crystal encrusted sandal that was made especially for her. It is truly an honour to share the same space with her.”

Speaking about her experience of dining with Leonardo, Priyanka says, “It was a wonderful evening. The setting was beautiful and there was a wonderful sit-down dinner with a fabulous authentic Italian meal. The entire trip was very memorable. From a visit to the museum to getting my feet measured to a private dinner hosted specially for me, it was all very magical.”

Nowadays, Indian actors like Aishwarya Rai-Bachchan and Frieda Pinto are stamping their presence on the global map. Priyanka says, “The world has woken up to what we are and the powerhouse of talent that exists within us. Indian women are not just beautiful but intelligent too. We definitely stand out in a crowd.”
