He’s better known for the breathtaking bridal creations he conjures up with long time partner Abu Jani, but Sandeep Khosla gone beyond saris, ghagras and anarkalis to dress up Mumbai’s much talked about T2 Terminal. An astonishing 947 lotus chandeliers designed by Khosla adorn the ceilings of the international and domestic lounges in various stages of bloom – we’re told the glass was imported from the Czech Republic, known for the it’s hand blown glass — and custom melded to Khosla’s specifications to reflect a distinctly Indian aesthete. Apparently Sanjay and Pinky Reddy of the GVK group had taken the whole team involved with the airport design on a 15 day tour of India to give them a flavour of the Indian art and architecture they wanted to showcase. The trip sure served its purpose.
