The power of two

Talking of empowered women, we’ve heard something about Kalyani Chawla, that uber stylish, Delhi-based, globe-trotting brand ambassador of French fashion house Dior. The Bengali dame has, if anything, emerged emotionally stronger and professionally more successful after her divorce with Vishal Chawla of Ravissant, adroitly juggling her busy work life with her responsibilities as a single mother to Tahira.

Though she’s as much part of Mumbai’s swish set, thanks to her frequent visits, we were a little surprised to learn that she had agreed to play hostess for the winter menu launch of a restaurant chain owned by Amit Burman. It emerges that it was a friendly gesture for a certain Rohit Agarwal, who happens to be the head honcho of the Dabur Group-owned company, which operates eight major F&B brands.

While they’ve not bothered to make any announcement about it, we understand that the suave and well-mannered Rohit is the new man in Kalyani’s life. The Mumbai visit coincided with a major breakthrough for Agarwal — his company has landed a contract for the food & beverage concessions at Mumbai international airport’s new Terminal 2, which means he too will now be making regular trips to the city, if only to oversee the almost 32 outlets his company will operate at the country’s swankiest terminal. Calls for a double celebration.
