It has been said that when a man is tired of London, he is tired of life, for there is in London all that life can afford. It’s one of the most significant cities in the world from the perspective of influence, culture, business, entertainment, history and sheer savoir faire.
London is a thrilling place — it has so many attractions. Here are some of them…
Shopping
From Oxford Street and Regent Street, London is a shopper’s paradise! The variety that one can find is amazing. South Molton Street has all the high end designer labels and Portobello road and Borough market is for street shopping.
Nightlife
London also has the most exciting club scene. By the time its 5.30pm people head to pubs from work to unwind. Most clubs and bars in London stay open all night so you can party until dawn. Audley, Waterway, Grenadier are some great choices as pubs.
Eating out
Whatever your tastes, you will find an apt restaurant in London. There are places that serve stylish Oriental fare and those where you may indulge in high tea and scones, which are a delight.
Theatre
London’s West End is world famous. Also, most theatres are in Piccadilly or Shaftesbury Avenue.
The Thames
Offering a host of attractions is the most famous river in the UK. Take a boat along the Thames or walk along its banks and stop at one of the pubs along the way.
Wimbledon
I travel to London mostly during the time when the Grand Slam is usually on and catch at least two games.
History and architecture
From St Paul’s cathedral to the Houses of Parliament to the Royal Albert Hall, London is host to the UK’s most beautiful buildings.
Buckingham Palace
You must visit Buckingham Palace, the home of the Royals. The Change of Guards takes place daily with a lot of fanfare.
Madame Tussauds
It will have appreciating centuries of fame and notoriety.
Music
London has some of the best music venues in the country — from Wembley to the quirky pubs. The Kenwood musical concert in Hampstead is also very soothing.
