A Bangalore-born US-residing surgeon Dr. Thomas Rajan was awarded the title of 'Wildlife Photographer of the Year for 2015' by Sanctuary Asia on Saturday. Selected from nationwide entries, the photograph which won him the award is named as ‘Jungle Blur’.
Dr Rajan, alumnus of Harvard and Tufts, is a physician who has been practising in the U.S. Being an ardent lover of photography, Thomas always liked exploring with his camera but was not able to devote much time while pursuing his academics.
The photograph 'Jungle Blur' is captioned as 'With little more than a smattering of her rosettes in focus, a leopardess Pantherapardusfusca streaks down a tree in the twilight forests of Kabini, Nagarahole'. His award-winning picture 'Jungle Blur' has been taken at Kabini Jungle.Over the last five years, Dr. Rajan has travelled extensively through the jungles of India, Africa and the U.S.and captured some amazing images of wild life.
Dr Rajan grew up in Bangalore and is a graduate from Mysore University. He has 5 specialty board certifications from the U.S. He practises as pulmonary, critical care and sleep specialist in the state of Maine. He also heads several sleep centres in northern Maine.
