TV hottie VJ Archana Vijaya just took a short vacation to Krabi island and is all gung-ho about the place. She says, “Well, I had heard a lot about the islands off coast of Thailand. I have been to a few islands there but long time ago. I did go to Phuket recently but was really disappointed as it was very commercial. And hence I though of visiting Krabi this time.”

About an hour away from Bangkok, Krabi has its own airport and you can fly there directly. “As soon as I took the first glimpse of the island I was completely blown away. It’s beautiful,” recalls Archana. At Krabi she visited the Aonang beach, and also went to an island named Bamboo, where the film Beach was shot. But Archana was not too happy with her experience in the well-known Maya Bay island. “It is a beautiful place undoubtedly but I got a feeling that the natural beauty of the place is a little spoilt thanks to commercialisation. One thinks that Maya Bay is untouched but it’s not and that was a little disheartening.”

When on an exotic island of Thailand, there are just too many sports activities to explore. “I always go snorkeling. The experience is one of a kind as the corals and the reefs are just stunning,” asserts Archana.

And when you are in Thailand you sure wouldn’t want to miss the night-life. “In every town of Thailand they have this party street, where there are a number of pubs blurting all genres of music and Thai girls dancing and strippers and alcohol,” says Archana. “I had a wild, wild and a fun night as well and to be frank, I can’t remember much of what I did. So you know that I had loads of fun.”

And the Thailand experience cannot be completed without street food and massages. “I love Thai food and the street food there is authentic and fresh. I also had one massage every day,” claims Archana. Lastly, she says, “My trip was total value for money and I have come back with loads of happy memories.”
