He’s the original dude, who made Punjabi music cool two decades ago. Steven Kapoor, better known as Apache Indian, is all set to rock Bangalore this Saturday, as part of his Music Is Freedom — India tour at Pebble.
Apache India, who’s also called Don Rajah by his fans, is coming back to India after three years.
This will see him in a completely new avatar, performing some of his newer songs, as well as his most popular tunes including Chok There and Boom Shaka Laka.
This concert is being organised by Hydrooo Inc. Enayat Ansari, of Hydrooo Inc, says, “This is a great show. Apache Indian is someone all of us have grown up listening to. He’s one of the original Indian pop stars. Youngsters today still look up to him and adore his music. We’re happy that we can bring him to perform for the Bangalore party animals. And Pebble is the best venue, considering how it can accommodate so many people.”
Apache Indian is recognised as the first true Asian international mainstream artiste. He is still the only Indian to have ever achieved seven top forty hits in the UK charts. He has had four Brit Award Nominations.
His songs have been featured in eight blockbuster movies including Dumb & Dumber and Scooby Doo 2 as well as over 75 international TV commercials. Apache has collaborated with some of the big names from the music scene such as Maxi Priest, Shaggy, Pras from the Fugees, Boy George, Malkit Singh and Bappi Lahri. He performs a highly eclectic form of reggae, with definite bhangra influence.
The show will be held on Saturday, March 5, at Pebble. Tickets will be available beforehand at various outlets of Subway, Casa Picola and Chung Wah. Call 9916173613 to get your tickets.
