Real diamond jewellery, gigantic pandal, exclusive band and many other extravaganzas is what you will get to see, while visiting Lord Ganesha at Daliya Sheri in Mahidharpura. The pandal is the centre of attraction in Surat, due to its magnificent beauty and exceptional craftsmanship. This year, the pandal is based on the theme of Parshwanath Temple in Kolkata.
Decorative pandals and attractive set-ups are becoming an integral part of Ganesh Chaturthi celebration and Surat is no exception to it. Ganesh pandal at Daliya Sheri has been bagging the best pandal award for 11 years and to maintain the same, heavy outlay has been done this year too. Organisers have prepared 50 feet high pandal, being 24 feet wide and 40 feet long. Inside the three storied tall entrance gate there is landscape, fountains and special passage leading to the Lord Ganesha.
Work on the pandal is going on since August 15 and is expected to come to an end by September 10. While the huge pandal is being created, the organisers stayed away from revealing actual costs incurred in creating such a marvel.
"Each year we take a theme and we prepare the pandal based on this theme. Last year, we prepared a pandal based on the Lord Ganesha Temple in Kolkata. This year, we have selected Parshwanath Temple again from Kolkata," Anil Patel, one of the organisers, said.
Patel further added that Ganesha will be decorated with real diamond jewellery, along with ornaments made from gold and silver. Lord's mouse has been made from seven kilograms of silver.
Apart from the pandal, organisers have much more to offer to the Lord's devotees. A shoba-yatra will be carried out while bringing Ganesha into the pandal. Four groups of bands have been booked for the moment.
