A local court today remanded 105 farmers from the village Gulvanch in Sinnar taluka of Nashik district -- who were protesting against a proposed power plant of Indiabulls -- to police custody till April 20.
Locals are opposing a thermal power station project by Indiabulls in a special economic zone (SEZ), as the lands in 13 villages around Gulvanch are being acquired for this.
Police resorted to lathicharge to disperse the protesters yesterday, in which four farmers were injured.
Farmers also beat up police inspector Mangalsingh Suryavanshi, police added, after which 105 of them were taken into custody.
