In a major IPS reshuffle ahead of the assembly elections, the Maharashtra government transferred 16 senior IPS officers on Friday.
Parambir Singh, who has been serving the Anti-Terrorism Squad in Mumbai since November 2006, was promoted to the rank of IGP (special) and posted in the Konkan range. He will replace KK Pathak who will be shifted to CID (crime), Pune.
The government also promoted six officers to the post of DIG. These include Amitesh Kumar (Amravati), Niket Kaushik (ACB, Mumbai), Suresh Tarwade (Pune), AD Shinde (Pune crime branch) and Dilip Srirao (state police headquarters). However, RG Kadam is waiting for his new posting.
DIG Padmanabhan, a 1990 batch IPS officer, is posted as additional commissioner in south region, Mumbai. The post had been lying vacant for the past two months following the transfer of K Venkatesham to the state police headquarters.
DIG RE Pawar was posted to the north region in Mumbai as additional commissioner. The post had been lying vacant following the promotion of Suresh Khopade to the post of IGP.
D Kanakratnam, special IGP, state Human Rights Commission, was shifted to Nagpur as
joint commissioner. KL Bishnoi, commissioner of police in Aurangabad, will replace Kanakratnam. SB Sawarkar has been posted as police commissioner of Aurangabad.
The state government also transferred Jaganathan to prison, Aurangabad, as DIG and promoted SK Verma to the post of additional commissioner in Thane. AS Patil, on the other hand, has been posted as DIG (wireless), Pune.
