An 18-year-old girl got crushed under an elevator in South Mumbai on Wednesday.
The incident took place in the building premises of Stree Mandal Trust in Sikka Nagar residential Complex on VP Road, when the motor of the old lift crashed down on her, claiming her life.
Jagruti Narayan Viras was on sweeping duty and when she stepped inside the duct to clean the place, the machine suddenly slid downwards and injured her head and back.
“Jagruti’s father, Narayan Viras was inconsolable. He was feeling helpless as he was in the same premises, but not with his daughter,” one of the employees said, adding that the building is in a dilapidated condition.
