Three incidents of chain snatching were reported in western suburbs on Sunday, where bikers grabbed valuables from women travelling in auto rickshaws.

According to the police records, the first incident happened in Vile Parle, when 51-year-old Menka Bandodkar, a native of Goa, was on her way to Bandra in an autorickshaw, along with her husband.

Bandodkar, in her complaint, stated that two unidentified men on bike stopped next to their auto at a traffic signal. The duo snatched her bag and fled. The bag contained valuables worth over Rs4 lakh.

In the other two seperate cases which took place at Andheri and Kherwadi, two unidentified bikers attacked women travelling in auto rickshaws and fled with their gold chains.

The police are in the process of preparing the sketches of the accused based on the description given by the victims. Any possible link between the accused and the auto drivers is also being probed, according to police officials.
