Three people died on the spot when a tempo in which they were travelling fell in the well in Shikrapur, in Shirur talika of Pune district on Wednesday night.
According to police, the incident took place at 9.30 pm when a group of 40 people were returning to their village in Lakhewadi, in Shirur area. They had visited their relative, Shahji Kotawade’s house-warming ceremony and were returning when the mishap took place. The Shirur police rushed to the spot, 25 km away, and with the help of villagers rescued the victims of the accident. A crane was pressed into service to pull the tempo out.
While three people succumbed to their injuries on the spot, the others were rushed to Surya and other local hospitals. Those in critical condition were rushed to Pune.
