An unidentified body of a 30-year-old man was found on Sunday morning near Malad railway tracks. His head was smashed with a heavy stone. The Malad police have registered a case of murder against unknown person(s).
According to the police, around 8am a passer-by informed the station master at Malad about the body lying near the tracks. Later, the railway police and the Malad police station were informed about the incident.
“After getting the information, we rushed to the spot and found that the person was wearing black trousers, a white shirt and slippers. He could not be identified as his head had been smashed with a big stone, disfiguring his face, and we could not find any sort of an ID on him,” said senior police inspector, PM Karyakarte of the Borivli government railway police.
“After looking at the crime spot and the body, it is clear that it is a case of murder and we also found the stone lying next to body, which was used for the crime,” said a police officer of the Malad police station.
The police are investigating further as the body was found in their jurisdiction. The police are also trying to find out with other police stations if any missing person complaint has been registered recently.
“We can then match the missing person’s clothes with those worn by the deceased,” said another officer.
