In the last five years, as many as 3,694 people died because of falling from running trains on the central railway's suburban line, according to the information obtained under Right To Information Act.
In reply to the query by president of Thane District Rail Passengers' Association, Om Prakash Sharma, CR authorities have revealed that 17 per cent of deaths on the railway tracks were because of falling from the train.
11,035 people were injured, during this period, after falling from the train.
