The accused, Babasaheb Waghmode, 24, has been arrested on a complaint filed by the woman at Chinchwad police station.

Sexual offences against women showed no signs of abating in Pune as police reported one more case in which a 40-year-old married woman was allegedly raped by a friend of her son.

The accused, Babasaheb Waghmode, 24, has been arrested on a complaint filed by the woman at Chinchwad police station, police said today.

According to the complaint, Waghmode called the woman at her residence on Tuesday saying her son was lying in a drunken state on nearby Ravet Road. He then took the anxious woman in his car to trace the lad and raped her after parking the vehicle at a remote spot, police said.

The woman was dropped back home by the accused who told her to keep mum. The car that he used had a line written on its rear in Marathi which means 'Blame your beauty'.

Pune has been witness to rising sexual crimes over the past fortnight, including two cases of gang rape involving a married woman and a 19-year-old girl. The latter was allegedly raped by two soldiers.

The increasing lawlessness had its echo in the state legislature with the opposition demanding the ouster of police commissioner Satyapal Singh.
