On the eve of Ganesh festival, the city police have externed 48 history-sheeters within the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) limits for the next 15 days as a precautionary measure. The decision was taken on Wednesday.
Deputy commissioner of police (zone III), Dnyaneshwar Chavan, told DNA, “We have made a list of 270 criminals and are externing them during Ganeshostav. We are also checking hotels and lodges in the Pimpri-Chinchwad area.”
Citibank reports fraud
The Pune police are on the lookout for an unidentified person who has allegedly stolen information of 13 Citibank credit cards holders and misused it for withdrawing Rs3.73 lakh through online transactions.
Citibank lodged a complaint in this regard at the Cantonment police station on Tuesday after 13 customers lodged complaints with the bank that money was fraudulently withdrawn from their accounts through online
transactions.
Three held for extortion
The Chatuhshrungi police have arrested three suspects for allegedly extorting money for a Ganesh mandal from a Pashan-based shop owner on Tuesday evening on Sus Road.
The arrested suspects have been identified as Prashant Vitthal Nimhan (34), Mehboob Shaikh and Rahul Bharat Shinde (21), all residents of Pashan.
According to the police, Mohammed Shakr Ibrahim Shaikh (33) runs a furniture shop at Balaji Chowk on Sus Road. On Tuesday evening, the suspects demanded Rs2,000 from him. Shaikh told them he would give money as per his wish. Later, the suspects forced him to give Rs450.
Decomposed body found
A decomposed body was found in a pit near the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Ltd (MSEDCL) sub-station on the Elpro Company campus in Chinchwad on Wednesday morning.
A case of accidental death has been reported by the Chinchwad police station. The deceased has been identified as Imran Bhudan Khan (25), a resident of Vetalnagar in Chinchwad. He was a waste-picker and a small-time thief.
