The Akhil Bhartiya Vidya Parishad (ABVP) today demanded the resignation of the vice-chancellor of University of Mumbai for not taking any action against the varsity staff who misbehaved with its students.

ABVP, a right wing outfit, had demanded on Wednesday that the vice chancellor, Dr Chandra Krishnamurthy, should give them solutions to all the irregularities which are going on in the university, including the examinations and delay in the distribuiton of degrees and the process of re-correction of papers.

The ABVP activists claimed that "the university is not student-centric and we want the Vice Chancellor to resign immediately on moral grounds for not taking any action against the staff who had beaten up the students."

Krishnamurthy although promised to meet them on Wednesday, but did not. The university's non-teaching staff misbehaved with the students to disburse them. Some students were allegedly beaten up by the varsity staff, after which the ABVP filed an FIR.

"They also allegedly locked some of the staff members, including women, inside their office rooms during their protest," she said.

The ABVP activists are protesting outside the VC's office and a large number of police personnel are present to prevent any untoward incident.
