The Jan Chetna Yatra of senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader, LK Advani, would arrive in the city on November 3.
Addressing reporters on Monday, the city BJP president, Vikas Mathkari, said the rath yatra is an effort by Advani to carry forward the fight against corruption initiated by Anna Hazare and Baba Ramdev. “As responsible citizens of Pune and the country, we will support him in the cause,” Mathkari said.
The rath yatra will enter the city at Katraj Chowk at 6 pm. Advani would then proceed to New English School on Tilak Road and address a public rally there at 6.30 pm. He will meet the press on Friday at 9 am and then leave for Mumbai via Talegaon and Lonavla.
BJP national party president Nitin Gadkari, deputy leader in the Lok Sabha Gopinath Munde, state chief Sudhir Mungantiwar; MP Prakash Javadekar; MLA Eknath Khadse, MLC Vinod Tawde, and MLA Chandrakant Patil will be present.
“The nation has been subjected to scams and corruption under the UPA government. Advani, through this rally, protests against such governance. We intend to support him in his fight to get black money back to the country, which can be used for the development of the country,” BJP MLA, Girish Bapat said.
