His last two TV shows may have failed to draw attention, but that is no deterrent for actor Shah Rukh Khan. The actor is set to return to the idiot box, this time with a game show to be shot in Argentina.

Titled Zor Ka Jhatka, the show is an Indian adaptation of the globally popular series Wipe Out that has several international versions including British, Australian and Swedish. The show will be screened on NDTV Imagine early next year.

Khan will be hosting the show, which will have 28 TV actors battling it out on an obstacle course.

“I am back on TV and am looking forward to being a super funny host and commentator. And I promise you a ride full of thrills and spills,” the actor announced on Friday. He added that he and his children have watched and loved several episodes of the original.

The format is to be comic and the participants will be seen doing antics such as jumping over moving hurdles, bouncing off giant balls and dodging swinging pendulums along the way. The winner will get prize money worth Rs1.5 crore.

“This is an exciting association for me on many levels — coming back to TV, working with Sameer Nair again and, most importantly, I’m doing something completely different from what I’ve done on television before,” Khan said.

Nair, who is the CEO of Turner General Entertainment Networks India, had worked with Khan on Kaun Banega Crorepati III.

He feels the show has potential to be hugely popular as it combines a superstar host, bizarrely challenging obstacles, and comic bloopers by participants.

Contestants on the show include actors Akashdeep Saigal, Bhakhtiyaar Irani, Gaurav Chopra, Payal Rohatgi and Raja Chaudhary.
