After Iftar party organised by the Muslim wing of the RSS at state Government owned Sahyadri Guest House was questioned by many Muslim organizations, another Iftar party was held on Monday. Interestingly, this time it was hosted by Minority Welfare Department of the state.

Minister for minorities development Vinod Tawde said when his department organises programs during the Paryushan Parv or Christmas, it never courted controversy. However, the Iftar party is being opposed for political reasons. Calling it wrong on opposition parties to politicise the event, he questioned what was wrong in organising an Iftar Party which gave him best opportunity to discuss various schemes in the interest of the Muslim community.

Muslim Rashtriya Manch, an RSS body had earlier sent an invitation to select 200 Muslim individuals, which was opposed by advocate Adil Khatri and Shakeel Ahmed Shaikh. They had sent a letter to Governor Ch. Vidyasagar Rao as well as Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis seeking cancellation of this Iftar Party. They had argued that Sahyadri Guest House was meant for official use and no religious functions can be allowed in the building.
