An Indian Navy Chetak helicopter made hard landing on Thursday morning at a village next to Uran (near Mumbai), injuring four navy personnel.
"A Chetak helicopter of the Indian Navy, whilst on a routine training sortie off Mumbai, made a hard landing at Uran, across the harbour, at about 1015," read a statement of Ministry of Defence.
It is suspected that the ageing Chetak helicopter developed a technical snag during the routine sortie.
During the flight, four navy personnel who were onboard received minor injuries and have been rescued from the landing site. The sortie consisted of two pilots and two aircrew, who are now safe.
"There has been no damage to civil property," informed a spokesperson. An enquiry has been ordered into the incident.
