Setting the agenda of completing pending works, Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar said that the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) will execute projects like ring road and underground metro rail with priority after coming to power in the Pune Municipal Corporation.
The guardian minister of Pune was talking to the media at Patrakar Bhavan on Tuesday.
On the ring road project, Pawar said, “As we are facing land acquisition problems from the forest department and defence establishment, options like tunnels are been considered to push the project in order to ease the traffic situation in the city.”
Once again Pawar reiterated his already changed stance on metro rail.
“After considering the results of underground metro rail in cities like Delhi and London, I am of the opinion that Pune needs only underground metro rail at any cost,” Pawar said.
“We’re are also planning to give extra FSI in the areas where the metro rail stations will be located,” he said.
Defending the official NCP candidates having a criminal background, Pawar, who is touted for the chief minister’s chair in the next assembly, said, “Allegations against our candidates are not enough to stop them from contesting the elections.”
NCP has given party tickets to historysheeter Udaykant Andekar and Prashant Shitole, who is allegedly involved in a murder case.
When it was brought to his notice that MLA Laxman Jagtap was openly supporting two NCP rebels in Sangvi, Pawar said, “I will ask Jagtap in own my style.”
On tainted Pune Congress MP Suresh Kalmadi becoming active in polls, Pawar said, “I’ve nothing to do with leaders from other parties meeting him and his presence will have no impact on the polls.”
