The infamous Al Husseini building in Mahim, which happened to be residence of Memon family before the Mumbai serial blasts seemed to be unfazed with the Supreme Court rejecting Yakub Memon's plea for review of his death sentence. The residents of buildings claims that they have left the past behind and moved on in their life.

"We have known the Memon family since the moved in to the building in 1991. They used to live on the sixth and the seventh floor of the building. I was just a small kid then, but I knew them as they were just like a normal family living in the building," said one of the residents of the building who did not want to be identified. He added, "We do sympathize with the family but everyone has to pay the price for what they have done in their life."

Speaking about Yakub, another resident informed that he was the most educated and gentleman in the entire Memon family. "Yakub was a chartered accountant and was a thorough gentleman. He was not like his brother at all."

Reminiscing the days after the blasts, he said, "We had suffered a lot after the blasts as there were policemen round the clock at the building and everyone, including the maids, were checked thoroughly before they allowed inside the building."

"None of us wants to speak about the family or be associated with them. Hence, whenever anyone comes and asks us about the Memons, we politely tell them to leave," said a third resident, adding, "We are not at all shocked with the recent development in Yakub's case as it was expected."
