State-owned Air India (AI) would be introducing another Delhi-Pune-Delhi flight from October 30 this year. The flight would operate six days a week, except on Fridays.
The Pune station manager of Air India, Dhairyashil Vandekar, told DNA that the flight from Delhi would depart at 5.15 am and reach Pune at 7.05 am. The flight from Pune to Delhi would leave at 7.45 am and reach Delhi at 9.45 am.
“The new flight would operate with a spacious A320 Airbus with 20 business class and 125 economy class seats. The flight has a capacity to carry five tonnes of cargo,” he added.
The new flight would be the second one that AI would be operating in that busy sector. The existing Delhi-Pune-Delhi AI daily flight reaches Pune at 6 pm and departs from Pune at 6.40 pm.
AI also operates flights from Pune to Hyderabad, Bangalore and Dubai.
Apparently, there was a growing demand from frequent travellers from Pune, including government servants and officials of corporate houses to introduce this early morning flight so that they could return from Delhi the same day after completing their work.
“Moreover, this flight would also enable passengers from in and around Pune to catch several international AI flights from Delhi to destinations like Paris, Frankfurt, London, Kathmandu, Bangkok and Dubai,” he added.
Similarly, passengers travelling to domestic destinations like Ranchi, Jammu, Srinagar, Patna, Chandigarh, Varanasi and Lucknow would get connecting AI flights. In a bid to attract more passengers, AI has announced attractive one-way fares in Delhi-Pune-Delhi sector. The fare for executive class would be Rs25,597 per person.
For travelling in economy class, the fares would be Rs5,685 if the tickets are booked 30 days in advance, Rs6,385 if booked 14 days in advance, Rs7,235 if booked a week in advance, Rs7,735 if booked five days in advance and Rs8,240 if booked three days in advance.
