SpiceJet pilot Ashish Jaiswal, who was arrested for demanding dowry and harassing his wife, was produced in court on Tuesday and remanded in police custody for two days.
His 24-year-old wife, Preeti, had alleged that he took away her valuables worth Rs 6 lakh from their Borivli house. "The police have also booked Jaiswal's father, Chandra Shekhar, and mother, Pushpa, after Preeti alleged that her in-laws were also harassing and torturing her for dowry," said sources.
"If we will find their involvement, we will arrest them too," said Ramrav Pawar, additional commissioner of police (north region).
Preeti and Ashish got married last year and lived in Delhi for some time. Later when her in-laws allegedly started harassing her for dowry, they shifted to Mumbai.
"After discussing with my superiors, we will send a police team to Delhi to question Jaiswal's parents," said Mahesh Patil, deputy commissioner of police.
Preeti told the police that her husband took away her jewellery and other valuables. He told her he doesn't want to stay in a relationship with her anymore.
"Jaiswal told the police that he had bought the jewellery for Preeti so it is his and so he took them away," said a police officer.
