The Azad Maidan police, who are probing a case of forgery against one of the partners of Parsi Dairy, are struggling to recover from him the power of attorney, which is said to be the main evidence in the case.
The police had arrested Urvaksh Hoyvoy, 55, on Thursday from Palghar on the charges of cheating, forgery, breach of trust and criminal intimidation. But he is reportedly not cooperating with the cops.
His arrest came after partners of Parsi Dairy farm including Meher Patel lodged a complaint alleging that Hoyvoy has forged the power of attorney and usurped a 300-acre family-owned plot in Palghar.
The complainants claimed he has converted the agricultural land into a non-agricultural land in a bid to develop it, and has given a contract to a developer, who has begun planting tress on the piece of land. They further claimed that Hoyvoy sold a piece of this usurped land recently.
A police source said that Hoyvoy is unwilling to help them recover the power of attorney.
The police said Hoyvoy's wife and the developer have also been named in the FIR and they would be arrested.
"We are interrogating the accused to ascertain his role and recover all case-related documents including the PoA, which is the main evidence. But the accused is not telling us where it is. He is saying he doesn't have the power of attorney and might have lost it," said a police officer on the condition of anonymity.
