Baa-Bapu awards announced in Pune

The Gandhi National Memorial Society (GNMS) on Friday announced the ‘Baa-Bapu’ awards for this year to Tara Bahal and Dr Vikas Murlidhar Amte.

The Gandhi National Memorial Society (GNMS) on Friday announced the ‘Baa-Bapu’ awards for this year to Tara Bahal and Dr Vikas Murlidhar Amte. They will be felicitated on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti on October 2 at Aga Khan Palace in Yerawada.
The announcement was made by GNMS trustee Shobhana Ranade.

Ranade said, “Vikas, the son of great social worker Baba Amte, has done a lot in the field of social work in Chandrapur. So we have zeroed in on his name.

Similarly, Bahal, who is a representative of Kasturba Trust in Haryana, has also contributed immensely to society.”
Each award comprises Rs25,000 in cash, a memento and a citation.

GNMS also selected Ashraf Adam Mulla of Hadapsar for Vidhayak Karyakarta award for her contribution in educating Muslim girls.
Ashraf runs the Muslim Prabodhan Sanstha for creating awareness about education and health among Muslim girls and women.

Ashraf will be awarded with Rs11,000 cash, a memento and a citation. Human rights activist and advocate Asim Sarode will also be conferred with Vidhayak Karkyakarta award.
