Shiv Sena leader Bal Thackeray, who underwent an angioplasty at Lilavati Hospital in Bandra, is stable and will remain in the ICU till tomorrow.
"His condition is stable and he is doing fine," Dr Narendra Trivedi, vice-president of the hospital, said today.
Thackeray was admitted to the hospital on Monday and underwent an angioplasty, a technique whereby a narrowed or obstructed blood vessel is mechanically widened, yesterday.
Thackeray, 83, will remain in the intensive care unit for a day more, Dr Trivedi said. He will be shifted tomorrow to a special room, where he will be kept under observation for two more days before he is discharged.
The Sena founder has been ailing for the past few years and has already left the day-to-day functioning of the 43-year-old party to youngest son Uddhav.
Thackeray spent about a week in the hospital last month complaining of breathlessness.
