It was his birthday and his mother was waiting for him with a sumptuous spread at their Lower Parel home. But Jayesh Revre, 22, never returned.
Jayesh, who worked for Cleartrip Forum, was headed for home with his best friend Upendra Tulsi. En route, near Mahalaxmi, Jayesh driving his Bajaj Pulsar bike collided with a truck on the Phoenix Mills flyover around 1.40 am on Thursday. The birthday boy died on the spot. His friend was admitted to Keyyam hospital in critical condition.
The Revre family was in a state of shock. “It was his 22nd birthday and his mother was waiting for him with biryani, chicken and Chinese. His uncle had brought home a cake. We were all waiting to celebrate his birthday, but he never came home,” said BMC employee Ramji Revre, father of Jayesh.
“I can’t believe that my son is dead. I lost him on the same day I brought him to this world. Chinese food and chicken lollipop were Jayesh’s favourite, but...” wailed Madhu, his mother.
Jayesh had married Daksha and the couple had a one-and-half year son, Piyush. “I don’t know how my son is going to survive without his father. He can’t even understand that his dad isn’t going to comeback,” she said.
Police sources said that Jayesh was speeding which resulted in the accident. “As per the speedometer, he was driving at 80 km per hr. He was coming home after partying with friends. So, there is a chance that he was drunk. Nielkanth Bhiku Rathod, the truck driver, was not drunk,” said inspector Sandeep Bhagdikar.
However, the aggrieved family members are irked with the local police and news channels that are claiming that Jayesh was drunk. “My son was my hero and I don’t know how I am going to live without him. He was like a father figure for his younger brother and sister. I am sure that he was not drunk because he knew we were all
waiting for him,” said Ramji Revre.
