Bombay High Court stays Shivaji Park beautification, construction of mural

A PIL filed by one Durgesh Warty alleges that the works had been granted without inviting tenders, though they involved expenditures to the tune of more than Rs1crore.

The Bombay High Court today stayed the construction of a mural, as well as the beautification project at Shivaji Park ground here which had been commissioned by Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai.
       
While the project is backed by Shiv Sena (which controls the corporation), Maharashtra Navnirman Sena is opposed to it.
      
High court's interim order came in response to a PIL filed by one Durgesh Warty.
       
PIL alleges that the works had been granted without inviting tenders, though they involved expenditures to the tune of more than Rs1crore.
       
Division bench of justices FI Rebello and Amjad Sayed sought reply from MCGM by May 5, and stayed the works till then.
