Catholic Council express concern over violation of rights

The Catholic Council of India has expressed its grave concern over violation of Constitutional rights by some state governments.

The Catholic Council of India (CCI), the second highest decision making body after Catholic Bishops Conference of India (CBCI) has expressed its grave concern over violation of Constitutional rights by some state governments.
       
The CCI which concluded its 10th general body meeting here last night passed a resolution which said great anxiety and concern was expressed over systematic attempt by certain state governments to dilute the Constitutional Rights of
religious minorities on lands and conduct of educational insitutions.
       
"These acts are against the vision of the founding fathers of the Constitution and CCI regret to note that constitutional
history is deliberately ignored and trespassed upon," a release from CCI said today.        

Another resolution said the Centre should immediately rehabilitate the victims of Kandhmal riots in Orissa. It said the attempts by some state to snatch away the freedom of religion of the individuals through reconversion especially in Orissa, Karnataka and Chattisgarh state.       

CCI has urged the Government to withdraw attempts to bring in any other system of management upon Church which would go against the wishes of donors who has donated assets to Church with a specific purpose of being utilised under the provisions of Canon Law, the resolution said.
