The election department on Friday rejected nomination forms of 12 candidates, including that of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) corporator, Uttam Hirve.

The state government had disqualified Hirve for six years for abusing and manhandling two civic employees, one of them physically challenged.

The forms of three NCP corporators — Jagdish Shetty, Ulhas Shetty and RS Kumar — were accepted despite Shiv Sena accusing them  of providing incorrect information about caste and assets.

Congress candidate Chaya Choudhary and BJP candidate from Bhosari, Shradha Lande, were disqualified as they did not attach their caste verification certificates.

A total of 1,306 aspirants filled 2,824 forms, out of which 1,719 forms were scrutinised on Thursday. On Friday, scrutiny of forms of reserved categories started.
