The Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) has released a list of grounds where rallies for the civic elections could be held as well as a list of places where they would not be allowed to avoid traffic congestion on the roads.
The civic authorities have put out of bounds for political rallies the main chowks of the twin-township as well as highly-populated residential areas. Thus favourite locations of political parties like Chapekar Chowk in Chinchwadgoan, Deluxe and Shagun chowks of Pimpri Camp, Kate Puram in Sangvi and Bhakti-Shakti Chowk in Nigdi are not available for rallies.
The PCMC has laid down conditions for letting out the grounds to political parties. These will be provided on first-come basis. The parties have to book the ground 24 hours before the programme.
No political party can book the same ground for two programmes on a day, said PCMC city engineer MT Kamble.
Citizens welcomed the decision while political aspirants were upset.
