At present, the storm water drain (SWD) department of BMC is carrying out remedial works at several flood spots across the city.

As part of monsoon preparation, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) chief Ajoy Mehta has directed all ward officers to ensure timely removal of barricades, construction debris from the road before the arrival of monsoon.

At present, the storm water drain (SWD) department of BMC is carrying out remedial works at several flood spots across the city. To prevent water logging during heavy rains, the SWD department is taking remedial measures like changing pipelines and increasing capacity to flush out water at flooding spots. However, this has resulted in roadblocks and piling of construction debris on roads. As per the order, the assistant commissioner of the respective ward will keep a close watch on ongoing works. "Barricades will be removed soon after completion of work and the roads will be made free of construction debris," said a senior civic official.

Mehta, during his monthly review meeting, has also directed that the Additional Municipal Commissioner should be informed in case of delay.
