They met him to share suggestions on the Coaching Classes Regulatory Draft Bill

Coaching class owners from across the state met Education Minister Vinod Tawde today to share their suggestions and objections on the Coaching Classes Regulatory Draft bill. The minister earlier had promised coaching class owners association of sharing the draft on which the associations could send in their suggestions and objections if any.

The Maharashtra Private Coaching Classes Regulatory draft bill had come in December 2017. Most of the coaching class owners had objections over it and some of them also sent the government few suggestions to make changes. Since the winter assembly session started from the Education Minister called a meeting of the coaching class owners to take the discussion further.

Sachin Karnavat, president, Maharashtra Class Owners Association (MCOA), said, "The meeting was fruitful. We will share our objections with the minister as he has asked us to share before the draft is final. We have an objection with some points in that draft which mentions points like providing a library, separate toilets to students and even sharing one percent of our profit to the government."

Echoing the sentiments of Karnavat, Another class owners association member, Ladika Ruke Joint Secretary, Association of coaching class owners and mentors (ACCOM), said, "On the background of objections raised by various class owners association in the past, the minister has assured that he is going to set aside present draft and the revised copy of draft will be sent to all coaching class association representatives who were present in the meeting today."

After taking suggestions from the coaching classes the final draft will be put in the assembly in the next assembly session. Owners informed DNA that their suggestions and views were also sought to be incorporated in the new syllabus of 11th Std next year. The association has objected the recommendation in the draft bill of giving 1% of net profit to education development fund, penalty clause on coaching classes, no incorporation of members of coaching classes in committee after the draft bill in council, submission of notes to government for checking of copyrights and restrictions on number of students to 80 in the classrooms.
