8,000 students from 400 colleges across the country will participate in 3-day event.

The 5th edition of the College of Engineering, Pune’s (CoEP) annual technical festival, Mindspark, will kick off from December 27.

Around 8,000 students from more than 400 colleges across the country are likely to participate in the three-day event, organised at a budget of Rs20 lakh through corporate sponsorships.

There will be a total of 49 events divided into 11 modules like civil, IT and robotics, including non-technical events, quizzes and workshops.

Cash prizes worth Rs8.2 lakh and goodies worth Rs42.6 lakh will be given to winners.

Based on the theme of Empowering India, the two top projects selected in each event will get technical support and networking from CoEP to take student innovations forward through corporate sponsorships or incubation.

“Besides popular events from previous years, new events like Robowars on robotics, model United Nations and Codeville (developing a code for an application to bridge urban-rural gap) have been introduced this year,” said Ajinkya Admuthe, student technical secretary for Mindspark.

Dr ST Vagge, dean of student’s activity, explained that besides college faculty presenting technical problems for students, this year industry had also sent across their problems for students.

“This year, we have introduced industry-designed problem statements in which two companies, Premier Ltd and Orange County, have sent us problems for students to solve. If the solutions suggested are complete or close enough, then the industry has promised to take the idea forward,” said Vagge.
