Unable to handle two wives and five children and a loan of Rs14 lakh, a 35-year-old Vile Parle resident kidnapped his two daughters and hired a contract killer to eliminate them.

However, they managed to escape, thanks to the presence of mind of one of them. The Mira Road police have arrested their father, who is cooling his heels behind bars.

According to the police, Paresh Burke, 35, had three daughters with his first wife Chitra. Eight years ago, he met Suvarna and married her. They had two children. To hide his relationship with Chitra from Suvarna, he rented a house in Mira Road. He kept Chitra and their three daughters there.

As his loans mounted, he decided to kill his daughters from Chitra. He gave Anil Palve, 27, a resident of Kulgaon, a contract to kill the girls for Rs1 lakh.

On March 21, he kidnapped his two daughters Pavitra and Ganga and took them to Anil’s house. Their hands and legs were tied.

He asked Anil to keep a watch on them and went to bring his third daughter. However, Ganga, one of the girls, managed to escape to a nearby temple. She informed the people there about the incident. They then called the Kulgaon police.
