BJP MLAs alleged that the police are hand in glove with the bar owners and hence no action has been taken against the bars.

Home Minister RR Patil announced action against the dance bars in the next 24 hours and stern action against the officials if found guilty. Patil, while admitting that dance bars are still functional in the city, said that the police get diverted due to the intelligence alerts and other law and orders bandobasts.

He said that because of their other responsibilities the police can’t focus on dance bars.

MLAs from the opposition benches named the dance bars functioning in the city.

Devendra Fadanvis of BJP produced a CD of the shooting in three dance bars. He claimed that Paradise in Kandivli, Chiranjeevi in Dahisar and Congress House in Grant Road employ bar girls and resort to illegal activities.

Sardar Tarasingh of BJP alleged that three bars in Mulund and Ghatkopar, including Huma Palace bar, bribe the police with Rs50,000 every month, and hence, action has not been taken against these bars.

He said that the residents in the vicinity of the bars face a lot of problems due to the late hours of the bars.

Nitin Sardesai of MNS said that Tandoor, Royal and Crown bars in Mahim employ bar girls and have rented rooms for the bar girls to live in after they finish working.

Leader of opposition in the state assembly Eknath Khadse said that since the state government has failed to take action against the police officers responsible for the running of the dance bars, more and more bars have converted themselves into dance bars.

Minister of state for home Satej Patil told the house that action will be taken within the next 24 hours against those bars that are functioning illegally.
