MUMBAI: Decision about screening the banned film 'Deshdrohi' would be taken on Thursday by the State Government, Deputy Chief Minister R R Patil said on Wednesday.

"The Home Department will prepare a final report in the evening and based on those recommendations, the Government will decide about screening of the film in the state," Patil said.

Producer of 'Deshdrohi', a film on the plight of a north Indian migrant that has been banned in the state, met Additional Chief Secretary (Home) Chitkala Zutshi and Home Secretary Anna Dani top Home Department officials on Tuesday to put forth his views on why the ban should be revoked.

"I have been informed by the officials that they will give their directives on the issue soon. I am ready to delete any scene found offending the sentiments," Khan had said.

The meeting was after the Bombay High Court asked the State Government to give the producer a hearing.

The Mumbai Police, whose top officials saw the film, had suggested that screening of the film be suspended as it may worsen law and order situation in the backdrop of Raj Thackeray-led MNS' agitation against north Indians.
